Monday, April 10, 2017 Lecture 26 Ephesians, Colossians, NT Household Ephesians Colossians (siblings) why is this different from other letters we have read? these two are very similar Eph: much more general (focused on God generally) very unified, general theological ideas as opposed to very specific historical context of galatians and corinthians ex: circumcision in Galatia Pauls attitude: very angry (lack of thanksgiving) eph: Paul is much more positive corinthians: how to prepare food, sexual immorality specific ideas paul is combating ideas of disunity and the factions in corinth Ephesians: UNITY one lord, one baptism INTRO: ephesians: portrays a time with profound unity within the christian community are there still instances of conflict? ex: 6:1217 (take up arms for battle) maybe not conflict WITHIN the christianity community conflict against the outsiders spiritual battle battle in the spiritual realm 1
