Description
Wednesday, April 19, 2017 DEBATE: Pauls View of Women In Class notes prepared as homework On Wednesday, instead of looking at the Pastoral Epistles as it says on the syllabus, we will have a debate on Pauls view of women in general and in ministry. For the debate you should respond to the following: is Pauls view of women repressive or freeing? You should look at the relevant sections of all of the epistles in the New Testament that say Paul wrote them. You might need to search for some of the relevant passages that address this issue. You have already read many of these books, but you will also want to look at some of 1 and 2 Timothy as well. Position: Pauls View of Women is Freeing galations 3:19 equalizing galatians 3:28 no distinctions 1 corinthians 11 head coverings while prophesying we are looking at it from a historical perspective overall it is more freeing that some of the other perspectives at that time or compared to some of the old testament 1 cor 7 some kind of equality compare to grecoroman household codes other codes did not address men directly, but paul does maybe he was more freeing than the other codes romans 16 1
