Why death is a social fact? and i think from the chapters 3 and 4 we can revisit the question of what is witchcraft and what is not. Witchcraft is the socially relevant cause, since it is the only one which allows intervention and determines social behavior. If a man spears another in war, the slayer is the first spear and witchcraft is the second spear and together they killed him. Concept used to define role of witchcraft. Witchcraft punishment (2nd spear) -- reason why (not how) everything happened. Not only a natural fact, but also a social fact. Destruction of a member of a family & kin, of a community & tribe. Leads to consultation of oracles, magic rites & revenge. Witchcraft is in yourself (you alone are responsible)
