Document Summary

Ecological succession r- and k- selected species. Trophic apparatus huge fangs on stoat. All badgers, weasels, etc. coexist in some way to remain stable over time. They do this as a result of the different size prey that they hunt. Understand stepwise graph regarding trophic guild organisms consuming similar resources in a similar way. Community all organisms living in same area and interacting with one another. Sometimes the boundaries can be blurred between communities. The abiotic background conditions determine if biota (physical) form discrete boundaries. Overlapping area ecotone area in between boundary zones often rich and dynamic. H = - [(p_a)(ln p_a) + (p_b)(ln p_b) + ] If h of one community is bigger than an h of another community, then that community is considered to be more diverse. Species can be overwhelming large or have high production rate, etc. Can have a greater impact on their communities but without the numerical dominance. Without it, community doesn"t exist keystone analogy.
