Five human senses: sight, act of seeing, organ of sight or vision is the eye, two eyes give binocular vision, 200 degree field in most humans, give depth perception, hearing, taste, smell, touch. How do we see: eye has an optical system, focuses an image on retina (area on the back of the eye) Eye socket - orbital bones: seven bones make up eye socket (orbital bones), protected by surrounding muscle and tissue. Esotropia - eye turns inwards (opposite of exo) Exotropia - an eye turns outward (exo = out) Hypertropioa - eye turns upward (think hyper child jumping up) Hypotropia - eye turns downward (non-hyper child sitting down) Treatment : vision therapy (eye exercises), glasses, surgery. Eye color determined by amount of pigment (melanin) in the iris. Name that scientists give to all types of radiation or energy when they want to refer to them as a group.
