There has been a trend for the global as shown in the growth of schools focused on global education, the increase in ngos specializing in globally-oriented curricula, us doe creating international strategy outlining global competencies. Some questions posed for the current global education movement include: The educational reforms stem back to the two world wars in which there has been an outward orientation towards international education, there are two main subcomponents of this concept, international schools and the internationalization of k-12 education. There are four autonomous subfields: world studies, citizenship studies, global citizenship studies, internationalization of k-12 public education goal to cultivate in students an awareness of global reality towards creating a peaceful world. In us the goal to foster a peaceful world has competed with ethnocentric, nationalistic arguments for education. Has led to a mix of idealistic cosmopolitan and pragmatic nationalistic orientations to global education.
