Colonialism was a brief period in the history of africa. It was a brief interlude in the history of africa, but it was an intensive, transformative experience for the bulk of the people who came into contact with the colonial process. Some comm so far removed from the colonial process that they were barely touched, but same ones today still very remote. In many ways, their lives have not been changed that much either by the col process or independent government activities. Disparate populations bundle together ppl who had nothing to do w/ each other, on eve of independence- these ppl have identified a goal and commonality of experiences for them to want to come together despite their differences.
