Concluded that these dogs were brought to this area 2500 years ago by shepherds from highlands & are still present, relatively unchanged. According to gilmore, all american dogs are true dogs & not domesticated coyotes or. Questionable breeds = mute dog & humped dog. Eight mummies of dogs with hair present were studied. Known cultures & carbon-14 dates were obtained from human mummies in cemeteries where dogs were found. One ceramic of a dog was studied, only such ceramic seen in over 30 years of excavating. Petroglyphs (stone carvings) & geoglyphs (pictures made by placing stones) in. Arica area were examined for figures that might represent dogs. Dogs were associated with human figures & cameloids. Fox was also seen & could easily be distinguished from dogs by his bushy tail.
