Had an impact on bolshevik thinking about revolution. Bolsheviks staying in power in russia is a precondition for the spread of communism. Collapse of austria-hungary led to strengthening of nationalist movements, started seceding. Russia created a red army : fighting for autonomy from foreign invasion against the white forces.
