I believe that the definition of family is a bond that stays intact under the most utmost conditions. If someone is ever in sorrow, he/she can always count on their family to take them through the hard times. In the short story, shoeless joe jackson comes to iowa, and the film, Field of dreams, ray kinsella faces many situations where he must choose between what his heart wants, but what he actually needs. While ray feels like his most important mission is solving the reason of the baseball field, he forgets everything around him, including family. In the begining of the film, ray had the opportunity to support annie when she was defending author, terrence mann, yet he stayed focused on the repeating phrase ease the pain . When annie was jumping up and down, showing excitement and a boost of confidence, ray showed no support for her. I was shocked at the lack of attention ray gave to annie.
