Meaning is robbed > it is still there (synonymous with replaced, impoverished, emptied etc) Signification does this: form robs meaning; signification robs sign. Parasitic because to continue to take and take and take, the host must be kept alive. Signified (concept) has a motivated (non-arbitrary) relationship with sign ii. Principle of myth - transforms history into nature. Implies that the concept is nature, erase historical condition. Wine is an important thing to french people. But they forget about the fact that it is alcoholic > deny drunk from it (drink not to get drunk, being drunk is just a consequence of the act), also deny that the drink is originally from italy. Milk - associated with children, but actually from netherlands. But there are certain things myth does not apply to!
