SOCIOL 5 Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Standard Deviation, Descriptive Statistics, Central Tendency
Document Summary
Cannot find eman for certain kinds of values. High standard deviation high numbers of numbers deviating from mean. Can find the mean kind of (nominal category = only 0 or 1) frequency of 1 or 0. Difference between 1-2 classes same as 10 or 11. Nominal categories such as 0-1 is good 2-4 bad. All categories can be calculated for mode. Middle of when you put data in order from least to greatest. Ordinal can be put in order (rank and find middle) Count which has the most or what pops up most frequently. Add all up and divide by number (average) No true zero so it is interval not ratio. Not ratio as it is a made up measure. Difference of 200 and 400 not clear as if it is 1400 and 1600 (difference between different scores are unclear)
