The fast track is the idea that the track moves pretty fast and you have to try to keep up with it. Most mothers with professional/ academic degrees work in their fields, just not at the top. End up in second tier jobs within their chosen field. For any individual mother who is training for any particular career, knowing that she will only get to the second tier. One is thinking about the future of women career. Women will continue to be ignored and excluded. The pipeline : student years the training period. Men (pursuing post-grad education) then to marry and have kids before women do. Harder to attend conferences, after hours meetings, work more. For example: to become a lawyer: you have to go to law school (3 years) plus 5 years of entry level.
