Moved hostile daimyo to domains in remote areas. Every daimyo had to live in edo and in their own castles every other year. Daimyo"s direct families had to live in edo permanently as hostages. Cannot fix or build a castle, etc. Prohibited all daimyos from doing new things (shinki) without shogun"s approvals. To keep the daimyo in tight surveillance. To keep their allies loyal and their enemies confused/fragmented. Strategies worded for over 250 years / 15 generations.
