Recall- memories are retrieved with few external cues given. Recognition- memories are retrieved after looking at or hearing information that matches what is already in memory. Encoding specificity- the tendency for memory of any kind of information to be improved if retrieval conditions are similar to the conditions under which the information was encoded.
