Lecture 1 history of microbes patients will have a nosocomial infection post-op. 99% are innocuous or beneficial to our bodies. Sometimes microorganisms that were once considered beneficial can to bad, and cause harm to the body. We replace our micro biota very quickly, often within hours. An imbalance may lead to illness (i. e. ibs, diabetes, parkinson"s) No inner transportation necessary, everything moves easily within cytoplasm. They have shaped our atmosphere (provide oxygen), geology, and cell cycle energy. Viruses are a form of life, though it is not confirmed that they are not truly organisms. They are essentially a piece of rna that can change the way a being behaves. Example is a spore: communication: organism should be able to interact with other organisms. For example, cells should be able to send messages via chemicals: movement: means of locomotion via use of limbs, flagella, etc.
