This 1% includes a wide range of species, ranging from psychrophiles to thermophiles. Pathogens are a very small number compared to the overall number of bacteria in the world. It"s possible for bacteria that are initially not harmful to us can switch and become pathogenic. This is more common in immunocompromised ot immunosuppressed patients. Zoonosis: grow in other animals and can cross over to humans. These animals are often around humans: bacteria sharing genetic material. Shelter species: won"t normally interact with humans and provide shelter to the bacteria. Environment: lots of antibiotics are used and excreted by us.
