Kepone incident allied chemicals pesticide pollution disaster. 1970s case that set off media avalanche and pushed congress to make federal environmental statutes illustrated industrial market behavior that pushes why envi law is necessary. Kepone is a chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticide relative to ddt results of toxicity tests revealed it to be highly toxic, causing cancer, liver damage, inhibition of growth in fish, mammals and birds.
