Week 8 on, end of week 8 beginning of week 9. Period of growth & maturation, when palate is forming. Cleft palate- that is related to this period: smoking while pregnant, palate isn"t formed yet and that"s when it can get messed up during this period. Quickening occurs 16th week, when mother feels baby moving for the first time, not necessarily 1st time baby moves, just feeling it. Pregnancy becomes cognitive and emotionally real, changes things for women, bonding experiences, tangible not just an idea. If it"s not moving every day could have to do w/ health of fetus. Viability achieved @ 24 weeks, chance to live outside of womb. 40 weeks from last menstrual period, term, when its due doctors will let women go two weeks late but then they"ll induce labor whereas midwives in other countries will allow it to go past. Doctors scared of placenta breaking down before kid is out.
