The majority of the female population was composed of housewives and children. Mexicans were 85% of population, but had no political representation. They had poll taxes, literacy tests, and gerrymandering. Many people had money but want to spend on white politician ballots. In 1963, mexican americans put up their own nominations for presidents. The 5 candidates known as los cincos beat the white man! They tried to indict, arrest, and remove the 5 candidates because they were mexican and won. Physical oppression. texas rangers were a hate group towards mexican. No actions were brought against the rangers.
