Document Summary

What makes killing wrong is that it deprives us of the value of our future. Deprived of - experiences, activities, projects, and enjoyments. If a being has a highly valuable future ahead of it, - future like ours - then killing that being would be seriously harmful and hence seriously wrong. Abortion is morally wrong because it deprives the fetus of a valuable future. Death is a bad thing because it causes the loss of future pleasures and experiences. Premature death is bad because it cause the lose of a future lled with experiences. Abortion is not the same thing as premature death but abortion deprives the fetus of future experiences in the same way as a premature death deprives a human being of future experiences. Therefore abortion is a bad thing for the fetus in the same way as premature death is for human beings. Therefore abortion is as wrong as killing people (causing their premature death).
