Document Summary

Cross- cultural psychology and the study of sleep. Family that practices bed sharing: co-sleeping family bed , tiny baby is in the same bed. Co-sleeping issues: most common practice around the world. Relatively common here but people don"t talk about it. The most common cause of death in infancy. Most babies are fine though: solitary sleep has only been happening for 70 years. Historically families slept with babies and only recently people thought that babies should have own room. Noticed that there was a high rate in infant death and it seemed that parents would roll on babies and babies would suffocate. Church stepped in and suggested that babies no longer sleep with parents. Turns out overlaying is not as accidental as people would have thought (get rid of babies you cant afford to feed. It is really rare for parents to roll on babies.
