Self-report psychopathology and personality assessments: mmpi, used in forensic psychology, personnel selection therapeutic assessment, all influence response sets, has validity scales, clinical scales, and supplemental scales. Scales are overlapping: originally with normative sample from psychiatric patients in minnesota, out-patient and in-patient, pai, used in forensic psychology, personnel selection, therapeutic assessment, has validity scales, clinical scales, supplemental scales, interpersonal scales, and treatment consideration, response sets. Scales are not overlapping: the way a person tends to respond to self-report questions, to address or test, reverse scoring, extremely ambiguous questions, personality tests and selection. In work place: must be valid and predict work-related outcomes, can screen out marginal candidates or identify exceptional candidates. Interested in: agreeableness, emotional stability, and conscientiousness: screening for honesty and integrity, usually face valid, overt integrity testing, hard to disguise purpose. Legal issues: discrimination is illegal, needs evidence that it identifies characteristics relevant to job performance.
