School did not try to accommodate needs of female students in transportation or facilitating host families. Girls felt their activities were not valued. Boys who were not active in athletics had difficulties in participating in extracurricular activities as well. Vdp academic supports isolated female students and did not provide academic opportunities for vdp males. Sports and other cooperative group activities placed students on an equal level and had them working towards a common goal preconditions for integration and inter-racial interrelationships. These opportunities overwhelmingly benefitted male never female minority students. In order for a court to order desegregation, a group of minority families must get together and file a lawsuit. However, sometimes it is not an easy task. W. e. b dubois-first black sociologist helped launch the group. Lasted about 10 years, school forced to desegregate. Supreme court rejected it saying they don"t have to desegregate. Few schools that are forced to desegregate will take the extra steps to integrate.
