play called “Who is Sylvia”
○ Two main characters:
■ Valentine- sure of heart
■ Proteus - comes from the Latin word for changeable
○ Proteus serenades Sylvia
● The word Sylvia comes from the Latin word forest
● Swain means sailor/ someone who knows something about the water but then became
to mean lover
● Martin notices Sylvia’s eyes first when he sees her
● Martin says that Sylvia is a goddess trapped in the body of a goat
● Stevie is more mad that Martin loves Sylvia than that he has sex with her
● Sylvia is killed by Stevie
