CAS AN 101 Lecture Notes - Isabel Aboy
Document Summary
Witchcraft different than our perception of witchcraft. Causation: as an explanation of why things happen, witchcraft helps to explain the convergence of why something happens at a certain place in time. A boy walks along and trips over a stump and gets a cut. You can take the blame off of yourself and put it in witchcraft. There is no room for luck or coincidence. The boy was in a hurry and daydreaming. Those might be reasons for things happening: the first spear brings down the elephant, during hunting, but the second spear kills the elephant. Witchcraft forces us to think about why things happen past the way that we normally do.
