Role of experience and culture in shaping human psychology > standard social science model. The straw man argument? maybe. not shared by all social scientists, people support the sssm to varying degrees, psychology has changed since 1992. 1) evolution/biology irrelevant when studying the mind: biology and genetics are useful for understanding non-human animals behavior but not human behavior; in humans, biology and genetics are only applicable from the neck down. 2) there is an unbridgeable divide between the social and natural sciences. Nurture (in uence of our environment) > an interaction, 100% of both, nature wrote the rules for how nurture works - matt ridley. The brain only accepts a narrow range of inputs, we can only hear a narrow range of frequencies in sound or light. Sssm: there is no human nature, mind is blank slate on which arbitrary culture and experience make their mark.
