Discussion questions (pre-lecture): to begin, i would like you think back on the semester so far and simply catalogue the women we"ve met (real or fictitious). As well as the fact that husbands and brothers were thought to be responsible for the. Talks about brothel regulation in venice and florence texts actions of the women in their family. Women"s job was to run the home and support their husband, they were engaged in the social scenes of florence than in the workforce as they were seen more as material objects. In paintings realistic renaissance women were rarely shown, rather goddess and women of myths were depicted as graceful, elegant, powerful. Women"s history is hard because the hierarchy in which they were placed in renaissance times put them into a seen and not heard mold, except for those who did above-average things to break the mold.
