Exploiting colonized countries for materials to send back to mother country: imperialism: 19th century, economics and trade; control of those countries. It doesn"t provide security, like they had hoped. Increasingly after 1900, tensions begin to increase that lead to wwi. British imperialism: colonialism was terrible for them. By 1900, britain was the largest power holder in asia. They got there through sailing under the cape of africa, which they then annexed. They then built the suez canal, revolutionizes the world and its transportation and geography. France: the empire was never central the way it was for britain. It was clear that britain would defend its empire, willing to go to war.
