Arabic koran with persian interlinear translation, c. 1500 ce: not till the 13th century that paper was brought to india through the islamic rulers, koran was translated for the new communities who were changing religions or entering. Since, persian was the language of culture in asia because of how widespread. Just like how chinese characters was a pan-east asian phenomena, persian was considered the language of diplomacy, art and culture: calligraphy is not that important in the hindu culture as much as islamic cultures. Calligraphy and poetry: poetry was on paper as part of books etc which both muslims and hindus were integrated into persian culture. These papers had a very strong form of self-reflection which was central to the islamic culture.
