Marx expected revolution to happen in industrialized, advanced state: he"s from germany so he"s expecting it to be there, he wrote das capital, communism is inevitable because of history and the trajectory of economics and politics. Revolution occurs in russia with a suddenness: lenin is nowhere near russia when it happens, racked with purges and a lot of bloodshed, yesterday"s allies become tomorrow"s enemies , violence and bloodshed but did reorganize the country. Organized poverty, destroy powerful religious organizations, new education: reasons for revolution (3 factors): Complete disintegration of military doing so badly, organization dissolves. Czarist russia did not have a channel of communication between rulers and commoners. The war showed creaking ineptness of russian hierarchy: corrupt and inefficient: to fight the war, they just sent more and more soldiers they conscripted 15 million people (this took 15 million people out of the workforce) No one is certain why they"re fighting the war, and there are massive causalities.
