Every time when opening and closing fist, tedons go through carpal tunnel. Everytime opening and closing fingers/hands, those tendons go back and forth through carpal tunnel. Much thinner and less substantial than flexor retinaculum. Cross the wrist rather than being distal to it. Radial side to the radius, cross the wrist, attach to ulna + triquetrum.
