Earth- matter in solid, air- matter in gaseous, water- matter in liquid state, fire- matter in its incandescent or luminous state. The essential components of all matter, compose everything in the universe. Four elements linked to the four humors: Phlegmatic: water patient, calm, quiet, compassionate, tolerent phlegm from lungs. Choleric: fire impulsive, aggressive, passionate, energetic yellow bile from spleen.
