Ex of false self. Nice person. Someone who can’t say no.
At most troubled level the extremely maladaptive level called the mask. Living as an incomplete person. Tag
with no base.
Anti social person lacks empathy. No theory of mind. Psychopath is an extreme level. More moderate is
Psychopaths are very good at covering their traces.
Sociopaths are very impulsive and more likely to get caught. Don’t carefully think everything through.
Then you have the caretaker. Have a true self that’s dimly acknowledge and has a secret life. Lack
spontaneity or sense of liveliness. Protect true self and allow it to have a secret life.
The Defender: false self protects true self. Waiting for the proper conditions for the true self to emerge.
Then they can take developmental steps to move forward. Ex. someone who’s bisexual and are married
and pretend to be heterosexual then eventually they find out it’s ok so they live their lives acknowledging
their sexual orientation. Sometimes the conditions never happen, at that point, the false self kills off the true
self to prevent it from coming out. More likely to commit suicide.
The Imitator: Person cobbles together a personality. Act as if they were another person. Have no
coherent or authentic sense of self. Imitate people. Not necessarily harmful. Can be relatively successful.
But doing it with no authenticity, internally disjointed.
The Adaptive facilitator: A person who’s socialized well and your false self is organized through that.
Show politeness and modesty and selfrestraint. Act right in public when they have to do it. Most people are
like this. You have to have a polished social self.
