Document Summary

Anatomy and physiology of the speech and hearing mechanism. Anatomy: the study of the structure of an organism (what are the structures that make up an organism). We need to know where are bodies are located in space and where parts of the body are located in relation to each other. Orientation allows us to easily identify body structures and where they are located in relation to each other in space. Anatomical position: the body is standing erect, with the head, palms, hands, and arms forward. Whenever we are talking to an organ or a part of the body, we are going to assume that the body is in anatomical position. Axis is the midline: the body and brain have midlines from where other structures arise. This is the center of the body from which other things come off so it makes sense that our axis of the body is our skeleton and our head.
