Five factor personality theory (ocean): the theory that there are 5 basic dimensions to personality: openness to experience- curiosity, conscientiousness- responsibility, extraversion- outgoing & energetic, agreeableness- kind or sympathetic, neuroticism- anxious or tense. Attributions: process by which individuals explain the causes of behaviors and events. Feared / false self: behavior that intentionally presents a false impression to others. Future orientation: the extent to which an individual is able and inclined to think about the potential consequences of decisions and choices. Gender identity: the gender an individual identifies with. Gender intensification hypothesis: the idea that pressure to behave in sex appropriate ways intensify during adolescence. Gender role: sets of social norms dictating what types of behaviors are generally considered acceptable, appropriate, or desirable for a person based on their actual or perceived gender. Ideal self: who and what ought to be, extent to which you personalize aspirations, who/what you wish to be.
