Nomadic pastoralism: long, seasonal, no permanent residence. Transhumance: short, cyclical (high-lowlands), permanent residence. With: foragers, horticulturalists, farmers, urban traders (if close to village/town) Nuclear families and groups of families are the basic economic and social unit. Gender: men: heding, women: process products (milk, wool) Age: adults + children herding. The economic and political power women is low. Right of use: pastures, migratory routes. Continues in poor nations: efficient, low energy requiring, semi-arid regions.
