Life is absurd: written when france was under nazi occupation. Is life worth living: we are strangers in the universe; the world was not made for us, thus we identify ourselves with our purposes because they give meaning to our existence. No guarantee that our purposes will succeed. No ultimate justification we can give for our purposes at this point we realize we are strangers. It is fundamental aspect or dimension of our existence. All we can say of what is irrational is based on our own limited perceptions of what exactly we determine to be rational***) Thus the world will always be opaque: it"s not that the world is absurd or we are absurd, but rather our relationship with the world is absurd, the disproportion between the mind and the world. A life lived without appeal: freedom there are no given purposes to how we should live. Inevitable failure is not a reason to stop trying.
