Rhetoric: the faculty of observing any given case of the available means of persuasion. The available means of persuasion is ethos, logos, pathos. Establishing someone else"s credibility helps build your own credibility: make sure source is credible, will need 6 sources in paper. Each time used a source establish credibility: what can go wrong with ethos, misusing survey data. Arguing about using heart valves and sites a leg doctor - wrong. Telling a story (easiest way to get to pathos) Ethos (credibility), logos (logic), pathos (emotion) are rhetorical appeals. Ethos - the people talking seem to know what they are taking about. Pathos - the middle man starts to leave the conversation mentally. Pathos - uses humor when he answer questions. Ethos - they are well known people and have a huge audience watching them. Logos - uses many statistics off the top of his head.
