Document Summary

The first thing that attracts a customer to a product is the way it looks. Aesthetics are broken into two categories: emotional and intellectual. Emotional relate to their ability to arouse a sense of emotional satisfaction and enjoyment. Intellectual and logical qualities are more related to the way the brain understands the logical relationship between different elements and the environment. Aesthetics of design are the combination of a number of different element that collectively create the shape and the feeling that the particular shape presents. There is also a strong relationship between creative design and aesthetics of design. The form of a product is linked to the interface between the inputs and the outputs of the two systems, one being technical, and the other biological. Some elements of form are: rhythm, symmetry, geometry, number of elements, cohesiveness, and relative location of elements. Symmetry relates to the whole form or elements of the form.
