Focalization, concentration, of consciousness are of its essence. william james (1890) Consciousness: our subjective experience or awareness of the world, our bodies, and our mental perspectives. Attention: our cognitive ability to concentrate on one set of events in our environment while ignoring other events. It controls our mental activity by choosing which events will enter our consciousness. When we pay attention we are aware of the contents of our consciousness and react to them. It affects our perception by deciding what we should focus on. Focus (selective) attention: a situation in which individuals try to attend to only one source of information while ignoring other stimuli. Divided attention: a situation in which two tasks are performed at the same time, multitasking.
