Document Summary

Contains 8 planets (recall from week 1) acronym: sandy made very edible. Jumbo mango juice- for her- s. u. n. (pronounced son ) Takes 8. 5 minutes to get from sun to earth => Just means we"re 8. 5 light minutes from the sun. Ex: milky way is 100,000 light years away. Constellation: region of stars w/ clearly defined, different colored borders. Constellations include all other stars within borders around it. Ex: orion"s belt known for 3 bright belt stars; but it"s much larger bc it includes all surrounding stars within its borders. Every part of sky belongs to constellations, but the borders don"t overlap. Stars only look like they"re moving at night because earth rotates every 24 hours. 3 factors used to determine where something is in the sky: Meridian: imaginary line that runs north to south, passing right overhead. Zenith: point directly overhead you no matter where you are. Meridian crosses through zenith bc it runs north to south.
