Electronic age zworykin & farnsworth: russian physicists vladimir zworykin working for westinghouse, invented the iconoscope in 1923, it was the first tv camera tube to convert light rays into electrical signals. He got the patent in 1928: indiana teenager philo farnsworth developed the cathode ray tube which used an electronic scanner to reproduce electronic image much more clearly than nipkow"s. 1930, after a lengthy patent battle, farnsworth received the patent for the first electronic television: 1934: farnsworth demonstrated tv at franklin institute in philadelphia a full 5 years before rca demonstrated tv at 1939 world"s fair. In 1959 congress investigated, van doren confessed to being allowed to cheat, and game shows ended.
