PSY 100 Lecture Notes - Lecture 24: Drug Tolerance, B. F. Skinner, Classical Conditioning
Document Summary
Unconditioned stimulus (us)- this creates automatic response that does not require the person or thing to learn something. ex. Conditioned stimulus (cs)- ex. the bell was rang and the dog and it salivates. The us is the drugs, the cs could be anything in the room of where they get the chemo. Second order conditioning: making chains of connection. What goes with what goes with the meat . Extinction: we can unlearn things that no longer apply. We need to notice associations so we can respond appropriately. We also need to learn when those things do not apply anymore so we don"t respond to them. Reconditioning: this happens faster once you have gone through extinction. Then you start pairing the cs to the us again. Generalization: the bell that you first rang was a c note, then you ring a bell that sounds like an a note, and the dog will still salivate.
