Assembly line balancing
-assembly line processes are very repetitive
-job shops: everything is different
-robotics have made assembly lines completely different than what they used to be
when they were all labor oriented
-different types of ways to lay out a warehouse
-process layout all you do is go to the spot where you need to go to
Biggest problem with assembly line =bottle neck
Bottleneck: if machine breaks down or person is abscent, basically anything that
stops a assembly line from flowing smoothly
- sometimes assembly lines designed with bottleneck in them to start with, on
accident, the goal is to structure an assembly line properly
