The most important fronts of the war were in europe in the west and the east. Ultimately, the entrance of the us at the end of the war was the tipping point that let the allies win. 13 in the east, while the french and british had 75 and 6 in the west, respectively. The younger von moltke was fired in september, due to the failure of the schlieffen. Plan focused on the wrong areas, allowing the french to put in plan xvii and go in: they also do very well in that year at tannenberg and the masurian lakes. Therefore, they go east in 1915: in 1916, they want to destroy the french at verdun, with 120 german divisions in the west, compared to 140 allied divisions (of those, 100 are french and 40 are. The battle lasts almost the whole year (feb to december), and they purposely use it as a meat grinder against the french armies.
