California pop art: very different from other places, assemblage pieces or real places with abstract elements in them, george herms- assembles objects for his art pieces, would go get supplies from city dump even. Experimented with ides of pouring paint onto canvas. Lets the paint soak onto the paper and dye the paper itself: morris louis and kenneth noland were inpsired by frankenthaers work, they did less abstraction and more technical work. Hard edge paitning: ellsworth kelly, used a grid of colored paintings and arranged them as a grid. Op art: optical illusions, a lot of different art styles seen as fads, but this one however was absorbed by culture so quickly it wasn"t taken seriously because fashion and everything started using the designs. Kinetic art: alexander calder, lobster trap, uses shapes as sculptures but stays kinetic and moves with interaction, alexendar calder also did a public sculpture in grand rapids michigan.
