This is when fish sweep their body axis tail side to side producing undulations of the body and tail. How form relates to function regarding a certain behavior in fishes: the c-start escape response. This response allows them to escape predators and survive attacks. Curls into a c and then rapidly uncurls to swim away to safety. Long fin (male sailfin mollies) vs short fin. There is a trade off - long fin attract mates but it are slower to escape from predators. In the lab: it was shown otherwise, sailfin actually had a quicker c-start response than the shortfin. Pelvic and pectoral fins ventral and mouth is ventral too.
