Glaciers are melting adding a lot of water into the ocean. They are fresh water so it dilutes that salt content, making it less dense. As the belt is slowing down, less warm water is going to high latitudes, this brings the temp down, speeding the belt back up, then it slows back down, self- regulating system. Release co2 and methane: biological pump.
