Action that immediately follows the behavior is the reinforce. The sooner the consequences follows a response, the greater its effect. Punishment can be rewarded ( because of the attention that you get) Different rewards and punishments work for different people. One activity csn act as a reinforcer to another. On study day, you probably study comm first because its less painful then chem, chem is the reinforce/punishment for studying comm. Sports illustrated curse: someone would be on si cover and then something bad would happen every time. Regression to the mean: life cant be all good and all bad eventually it will return to average, whenever something occurs, no matter the situation, chances are the next time, the outcome will be closer to the mean. Its not really the punishment that works better than rewards. Its just the chances that when you do something bad, it will be better the next time.
